Founded in 1995, the Centre conserves collections of significance to the history and heritage of the Outaouais region, including printed and manuscript material, photography, and documents on microfilm. For more information, please see CRAO website, for more information.
The Archives provides researchers with a wide range of services and research tools. Together with the Archives nationales du Québec (Centre de l’Outaouais) and the archives of the City of Gatineau, the Centre regional d’archives de l’Outaouais participates in periodic exhibitions at the Centre d’interprétation du patrimoine, located on the first floor of the Maison de la culture de Gatineau. Recent exhibitions have included: «L’industrie forestière et la vie de chantier en Outaouais de 1860 à 1960,» «La démocratie municipale en Outaouais de 1845 à 1975,» and others.
